Printed Silk Neckties - How to Pick the Right One

Picking out the right printed silk necktie can be a real headache, especially if you are a fashion klutz like me. The wrong necktie with the right shirt is a serious fashion faux pas. Therefore, take some time to consider your decision whenever you pick out a necktie to go with the shirt.
The trends for printed silk neckties keep changing every 2-3 years or so. A few years back, broad shapes thick knots were all the rage. Nowadays, the trend is tilting towards neckties of medium width and narrow knots.

The second important thing to consider is the color. Simply using the same solid color as the shirt isn't the finest of fashion decisions. It may b e safe, but boring, and limits your wardrobe to a very small set of choices.

Instead, pick out the dominant color on the shirt then buy a printed silk necktie tie accordingly. Suppose you have a shirt with brown stripes against a while background. A brown tie would go perfectly with this.

The mixture of big and small works great too. Suppose your shirt has a small plaid pattern. A tie with a large grid would work wonders. The converse is also true - big patterns work well with small ones, either on the shirt, or the necktie. Just be careful to pick out trousers that patch the color of the shirt if you decide to use plaids and grids.

Pay careful attention to the collar of the shirt and the knot on the printed silk necktie too. A broad collar with a narrow necktie would look disastrous. A narrow collar with a heavy, thick knot would be a fashion faux pas too. Keep the collar and necktie in proportion for the best effect.
Finally, keep abreast of the latest fashion trends by follow various magazines such as GQ, Esquire, etc. This would help you to know what's in, what's out, and give you ideas for your own wardrobe.
